Mayunawa Standard Shibari Rope – 6mm × 7m (Fine-Fiber Construction, Reverse S-Twist)

This is the standard model of the Mayunawa rope series.

Each rope is carefully handcrafted from bundles of fine jute fibers and twisted using the rare reverse-twist (S-twist) method.

Designed as a versatile all-purpose rope, it is suitable for a wide range of shibari techniques.

■ "No Processing" (Raw Rope)
When bundling the fine fibers, the entire length is visually inspected and debris is removed by hand. (As this is a manual process, occasional oversights may occur. Thank you for your understanding.)
The rope is supplied slightly longer, at just under 8 meters.
■ "Boiled Only"

The rope receives a simple boiling treatment:

Immersed in hot water for several minutes.
Extensive boiling is unnecessary because the original fibers contain neither the heavily colored oils nor impurities commonly found in traditional rope materials.
This also helps minimize stress on the fine fibers.

Additionally:

A weight is attached while the rope dries.
The rope remains properly tightened and has not loosened during drying.
■ "Boiled to Rope-End Finishing"

After boiling, the following processes are performed:

Friction conditioning (rubbing treatment)
Light singeing to remove excess fuzz, followed by cloth polishing
Minimal hand-applied oil conditioning
Application of a beeswax-containing cream by hand
Cut to approximately 7.4 meters
Rope ends secured with knots and given final finishing

This is the minimum conditioning necessary to make the rope ready for immediate use.

After that, simply use and age the rope naturally, allowing it to develop into a rope that best suits your handling preferences.

✱ Although listed as a 7-meter rope, ropes purchased as Raw Rope (No Processing) are supplied at approximately just under 8 meters to allow for future conditioning and shrinkage.
